When Should My Daughter Have Her First Gynecology Visit?

The first gynecology visit doesn’t have to be scary — in fact, it usually doesn’t involve a pelvic exam at all. At Be. Women’s Health in Frisco, TX, we recommend girls come in between ages 13–15, or sooner if they’re having period problems.

What happens at this visit?

Mostly conversation.
We talk through:
• Periods
• Cramps
• Body changes
• Acne
• Mood
• Sports and activity
• What to expect as they grow

No pelvic exam is done unless there’s a specific concern (like pain or irregular bleeding).

Why it matters:

✔ Builds trust early
✔ Helps teens feel comfortable asking questions
✔ Lets us catch hormone or cycle issues early
✔ Supports parents with reliable, evidence-based guidance

This visit is about education, comfort, and empowerment — not procedures.
