Can You Still Get Pregnant During Perimenopause?
Yes — and more often than many women realize.
At Be. Women’s Health in Frisco, TX, we regularly see patients who think they’re “too old” to get pregnant naturally… but your ovaries don’t officially retire until menopause.
Why pregnancy is still possible:
• Ovulation becomes irregular, not absent
• Your body may release unexpected eggs
• Hormone surges can still trigger fertility
Signs you may still be ovulating:
✔ Cervical mucus changes
✔ Mid-cycle cramps
✔ Breast tenderness
✔ Positive ovulation tests (sometimes)
If you don’t want pregnancy:
You still need contraception until you are 12 months period-free. Hormonal IUDs, implants, low-dose pills, and other methods are all options.
If you do want pregnancy:
Perimenopause can make timing more challenging but not impossible. We help with:
• Cycle tracking
• Fertility labs
• Ovulation support
• Preconception counseling
Perimenopause is unpredictable — but pregnancy is very much still on the table.
